Essiac

Updated: Apr 18, 2023

I LOVE working with the Essiac formula! Commonly known as a remedy for cancer and to assist the body in healing from chemo therapy - I love to expand the use of this amazing formula and use it in other ways - especially along the lines of PREVENTION. It is always better to prevent ailments than to treat them.

For me, the Essiac formula works to strengthen organs, soothe and nourish inflamed, weak tissue, increase nutrient absorption, support detoxification of waste, and so much more!

I use this formula often when working with sick animals - from dogs, to cats, to horses! I have personally witnessed incredible healing brought on by this formula!

I am excited to talk a bit about each herb in this formula - so lets go!

Burdock root - I cannot say enough great things about this powerful, abundant root! I use burdock often to STRENGTHEN the kidneys and the liver, to nourish and to build blood, support circulation, provide a significant amount of iron and minerals, support the assimilation of protein, regulates blood sugar, works wonders for the lymphatic system, skin eruptions, and so much more! One of the ways that burdock helps to nourish the blood is by REMOVING harmful acids and eliminating fluid retention. I will write more on burdock in the future as I absolutely love this herb and there is always something new to discover!

Slippery Elm - I credit slippery elm for increasing the nutrient absorption. Slippery elm works to soothe inflamed tissue in both the digestive and respiratory tract! Made into a paste it can also be applied externally for sores, burns, wounds, bed sores, ulcers, tumors, and more! When tissue is hot or inflamed it is not able to absorb nutrients as effectively as it should be. Slippery elm is a great herb for those who struggle with crohns, IBS, ulcers, and other digestive disorders.

Sheep Sorrel - I believe that sheep sorrel helps reduce inflammation MORE than slippery elm and I believe sheep sorrel does this so that slippery elm can focus more on the nutritive needs of the consumer. Sheep sorrel contains vitamin C, vitamin A, a number of B vitamins, and more vitamins and minerals! Sheep sorrel contains anti-oxidants flavonoids and helps to prevent free-radical damage and repair DNA. There is always much more to learn about every herb so I encourage you to do your own research and reach out to us if you have any questions or want to share some of your findings!

Turkey Rhubarb - Turkey rhubarb is a powerful detoxifier and I use a small amount in this formula to help support the liver, kidneys, and gallbladder in doing their job of eliminating toxins to make room for nourishment! Rhubarb has a spectacular cleansing effect on the gut and helps to promote a healthy digestive system which is ABSOLUTLEY necessary for every single human - healthy or not. Those with a healthy digestive system don't particularly need something as strong as rhubarb, however.

This is a brief description of each herb used in the Essiac blend. As stated before, there is always much to learn about every herb and a part of the fun is making new discoveries! I encourage you to begin learning and researching about herbs that call to you!

If you would like to begin working with Essiac, we have it available in capsule, powder, and tea form! Send us a message to communitynourishment@gmail.com for more information!

This blog is for educational purposes only, mainly for people who work with me or my remedies and are looking for the information on the remedies, how and why I use them, and what is in them. There is much more existing information on each herb and remedy and as always I encourage everyone to ask lots of questions and to dive into research for themselves as well as consulting with a professional.
